Undoubtedly the Ausangate trek offers some of Cusco’s wonderful scenery, with many glaciers, high mountain lakes, wildlife and also birds. It is one of the most difficult hikes in the region with three high passes at over 5,000 meters. Apu Ausangate dominates the skyline south of Cusco. As we approach the highest points; it is increasingly impressive and you will fully understand why the ancient Incas held this spectacular mountain at such a high peak.
