Considered one of the best treks in the world, the Salkantay Trek offers a variety of Peru’s ecosystems; from deserts and jungles, to mountain passes and blue lagoons.
General information
Highlights: Stellar scenery, coffee farm, glass cabins, lagoons and camp overlooking Machu Picchu.
Considerations: To include Hamantay Lagoon (Turquoise Lagoon) and Llacatapata (amazing camping spot with Machu Picchu in the distance) we have to leave the afternoon before the trek starts making this trek 5.5 days and 5 nights.
Season: March 1 to January 10.

Itinerary
DAY 1: CUSCO – SORAYPAMPA
We start the day picking you up from your hotel from 04.30 AM, then we will go in a tourist bus passing through the villages of Izcuchaca and Limatambo arriving to Mollepata (2900m.a.s.l.) where we will be approximately at 7:30 AM where we will have our first breakfast and we can leave our 07 kilos for our riders, then we will take a transport that will take us to Challacancha for 1 hour (3380m.a.s.l.) and we will arrive to Soraypampa (3900m.a.s.l.) where we will be arriving at 1.30 AM. From this point we will begin our trek in approximately 3 hours arriving to Soraypampa (3900m.a.s.l.) where we will be arriving at 1.30 pm where we will have our first lunch and first camp after lunch we will head to the beautiful humantay lagoon.
HUMANTAY LAGOON:
Ascent for 1;30 minutes where we will arrive to the impressive lagoon of humantay (4220 masl) where we can appreciate the turquoise color of the lagoon and the snowy Apu Humantay and then begin to descend for 40 minutes to our camp Soraypampa for tea time which is approximately 18.00 pm and then we will have our delicious dinner prepared by our chef, finally we will go to our cabins.

DAY 2: SORAYMAPA -SALKANTAY- COLPAPAMPA
At 5:00 am we will have a nutritious breakfast and then continue our hike, we start from the point of Soraypamapa to the highest point Abra Salkantay (3 hours) where we can appreciate the imposing snowy Salkantay, Humantay, Tucarhuay and Pumasillo (4650m.a.s.l.) passing by Salkantaypampa and Soyrococha where we will appreciate a small lake.
Then we will begin the descent to Huayracmachay (3 hours) (3800m.a.s.l.) where we will take our lunch and then continue the hike where you will notice a dramatic change in the landscape, this hike is really impressive then we continue down to Colpapampa (3 hours) (2900m.a.s.l.) where will be our second camp.
SORAYPAMPA-SALKANTAY-COLPAPAMPA ( 22 KM-10 HOURS)
DAY 3: COLPAPAMPA – SAHUAYACO BEACH – LUCMABAMBA
We will have our breakfast at 06.00 am, then we will walk for 05.30 hours throughout our jungle with ascents and descents flat, in this journey we will appreciate coffee plantations, orchids, begoneas, bromeliads and many natural plants used for natural medicine, arriving at our lunch point Sahuayaca Beach where we will have lunch “buffet” and board a bus to the camp (Lucmabamba). Arriving to our camp we will have the option to visit the thermal baths located in Cocalmayo (Santa Teresa) which are not included in our package and we return to our camp at 06.00 pm, for our return to our camp.

COLPAPAMPA -PLAYA- LUCMABAMBA ( 14 KM. 5 HOURS )
DAY 4: LUCMABAMBA – HYDROELECTRIC – HOT WATER
The sunrise will be inside a tropical zone full of history and nature where our breakfast will be waiting for us ready to taste and then we will continue our trip with direction to hydroelectric where we will have lunch in the restaurant after that we will continue our walk by the zone.
Then we will continue our hike through the tropical zone to the town of Aguas Calientes and we will settle in the lodge and wait for dinner at 6.30 pm.
LUCMABAMBA -HYDROELECTRIC- AGUAS CALIENTES (14 KM, 5 HOURS)
DAY 5: AGUAS CALIENTES- MACHUPICCHU – CUSCO
We will get up very early to visit Machu Picchu, where we will have a guided tour of the citadel of Machu Picchu to visit the temples, terraces, palaces and the platforms, then you will have time to take pictures and explore on your own.
You will then return to the town of Aguas Calientes to wait for your Expedition train at 6:20PM.
Note: If you have the Machu Picchu or Huayna Picchu mountain you will enter in the first schedule from 6AM – 8AM and in the second schedule from 9AM – 11AM.

We will have a pre-trip meeting with your guide at our office for a tour orientation. The meeting will be at 6:30 pm.
EXPERIENCE OF OUR GUIDES.
All our guides have a minimum experience of 3 years, our guides are: professional, responsible, nature and mountain lovers. They will make your trip safe and happy.
FIRST AID.
All our guides received first aid courses in high mountain, our guides always carry a basic first aid kit (pills for altitude, diarrhea, vomiting, cures, creams for muscle aches.) also oxygen in case of emergencies.

The following transportation services are included in the tour:
TOURIST TRANSPORT Cusco – Mollepata trip of approximately 02h and 30 minutes.
Transportation Mollepata – Challacancha, trip of approximately 45 minutes.
Transportation Sahuayaco Beach – Santa Teresa 1:30 minutes.
Tourist train Aguas Calientes – Ollantaytambo.
Tourist transport Ollantaytambo – Cusco Station (Plaza rejoicing).

Return train schedules – The schedules we work with are those of the 6:20 PM EXPEDITION TRAIN.
CAMP INFRASTRUCTURE
We have established campsites in each CAMP SITE, among which:
In Soraypampa: We have rustic cabins, with 13cm thick mattresses.
In Colpapampa: We have domes, with 13cm thick mattresses.
In Santa Teresa: We have rooms for two people.
ACCOMMODATION
The accommodation included in the package is a BASIC HOSTEL in the town of Aguas Calientes.
All rooms have private bathroom and private shower.
